SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol used to connect to a web server and execute different tasks through a command line. The protocol is preferred by many expert users, as the information transmitted over it is encrypted, so it cannot be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access may be used for a number of things based on the type of website hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for instance, SSH is among the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file in case the hosting server allows for it. If you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH may be used for just about anything - you could install software or restart particular services like the web server or the database server that run on the machine. SSH is employed primarily with UNIX-like Systems, but there are clients which enable you to use the protocol if your computer system is using a different Operating System too. The connection is created on TCP port 22 by default and the remote hosting server always listens for incoming connections on that port although a lot of providers change it for security reasons.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting

SSH access is available with all cloud hosting we offer you. With some of them, it's included by default, while with others it's an optional upgrade you can include with just a few mouse clicks from your web hosting Control Panel. You may get SSH access from the section related to it in which you will also find the details you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You may pick the password which you will use and, if required, you'll be able to modify it with several clicks from the same place. All the commands that can be used with our shared plans are listed within a help article together with relevant instances. If the SSH access function is enabled for your account, you shall also be able to upload files using your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers

You'll be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server account using SSH regardless of which plan you select when you sign up. With some plans, the feature is provided by default, and with others, it may be included as an extra upgrade for as long as you need it. You'll find the needed login details inside the Hepsia CP, included with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You will be able to select the password which you'll use and if you'd like, you can change it all the time with a couple of clicks for even better security. You will be able to see all the commands which you can use in advance, as we've listed all of them together with examples of how they are used to perform a particular task. Once SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is enabled, you will be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

You will be able to use SSH to manage your content regardless of which VPS servers you choose when you sign up, since all our packages offer this function by default. You won't need to add or allow anything by hand - the moment your web server is prepared and you receive the Welcome email with the login credentials, you could connect and start working on your web sites or any software you want to set up and run on the web server. You'll have root-level access to the VPS and since the account will be isolated from all of the other accounts inside the physical hosting server, you will be able to do anything you'd like with no restrictions. You may install any app which you need and that shall work on a Linux-based hosting server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and work with your files and databases quickly and easily.
