AAAA is a domain address record, which is in essence the IPv6 address of the web server in which the domain is hosted. The IPv6 system was introduced to replace the present IPv4 system in which every IP is comprised of four groups of decimal digits which range from 1 to 255 e.g. 5.168.208.143. In comparison, an IPv6 address includes 8 groups of 4 hexadecimal digits - which range from 0 to 9 and from A to F. The reason behind this transformation is the substantially smaller range of unique IPs which the existing system supports and also the fast increase of units that are connected to the world wide web. An illustration of an IPv6 address is 2101:1f34:32e2:2415:1365:4f2b:2553:1345. If you wish to direct a domain to a server that uses this sort of an address, you have to set up an AAAA record for it, not the commonly used A record, that is an IPv4 address. The two records provide the exact same function, but different notations are used, to distinguish the two sorts of addresses.

AAAA Records in Cloud Hosting

If you want to set up a new AAAA record for any domain name or subdomain hosted in your cloud hosting account, it is not going to take you more than several basic steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia CP is very intuitive to use and it will permit you to set up or edit any record effortlessly. As soon as you log in and go to the DNS Records section, where you can find all existing records for your domains and subdomains, you'll only have to click on the "New" button, select AAAA from a small drop-down options menu within the pop-up that'll appear, input or paste the necessary IPv6 address and save the change - it is as basic as that. The new record will be fully working within a maximum of one hour and the hostname that you have created it for is going to start opening whatever content you have with the other company. If required, you will also be able to edit the TTL (Time To Live) value, which signifies the time in seconds the new record will be working after you eventually edit it to something different or you simply remove it.

AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Creating a new AAAA record is incredibly easy using our user-friendly Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so if you host a domain name within a semi-dedicated server account from our company and you want such a record either for it or for a subdomain that you've created under it, you're going to be able to create it in just a few quite simple steps and without any hassle. Hepsia includes a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain addresses in which you can find all existing records or set up new ones with a few mouse clicks. All it takes to do that is to choose the domain/subdomain you need to edit, choose AAAA for the type from a drop-down menu and type the actual record i.e. the IPv6 address which the other service provider has given you. Within an hour after you save the modification, the new record will propagate globally and your domain address will start forwarding to the third-party web server. If they demand it, you can even change the TTL value, which reveals the time this record is going to be operating with its current value before a new one kicks in if you make any changes in the future.
